Declared standards and conformity

The Rollens EC Declaration of Conformity, dated June 2, 2025, declares under Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment, as PPE Category 1:

  • Products covered: Rollens Diamond Clear, Rollens Plus Diamond Clear, Rollens Foam Platinum Gray, Rollens Foam Plus Platinum Gray, Rollens Foam Diamond Clear, Rollens Foam Plus Diamond Clear, and Solar Rollens.
  • Product designation: low-impact safety glasses.
  • Harmonized standards referenced: BS ISO 12311:2023 and ISO 12312-1:2022; additionally ISO 12312-2:2015 (filters for direct observation of the sun) for Solar Rollens.
  • Registration: SRN US-MF-000045283.

Rollens protective eyeglasses were also reviewed by an independent, non-profit, dental-testing laboratory and were found to be effective as a disposable, eye-protective device. [CONFIRM: name the laboratory and year if the client can, then link or cite the review here.]

[CONFIRM: a 2018 ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 test report from an accredited lab (ICS Laboratories) exists on the live site for Platinum Gray, Diamond Clear, and Gray Plus only, not the other 9 SKUs. Test reports of this kind are typically valid for certification purposes for one year from issue, so this report is stale for a current claim. Ask the client whether they want to renew testing (to make a current ANSI claim for those 3 products) or leave ANSI unclaimed sitewide as now. Do not add an ANSI claim here until that decision is made. The EC declaration above covers the ISO 12311/12312 series, a separate standard from ANSI Z87.1.]

Frequently asked questions

What standards do Rollens products conform to?

The Rollens EC Declaration of Conformity, dated June 2, 2025, declares conformity with Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment as Category 1 PPE, referencing BS ISO 12311:2023 and ISO 12312-1:2022, and additionally ISO 12312-2:2015 for Solar Rollens.

What does visible light transmission (VLT) mean?

VLT is the percentage of visible light that passes through a lens. Rollens Platinum Gray, Gold Amber, and EcoLens Gray allow only 6 to 8% of visible light through, which is why they work for light-sensitive dilated eyes.

Are Rollens made in the USA?

Yes. All Rollens products are manufactured in the USA by The Rollens Company, a veteran-owned business founded in 1989 and headquartered in Centennial, Colorado.
